The Leadership Wheel: Five Steps for Achieving Individual and Organizational Greatness

The central premise of Clint Sidle’s Leadership Wheel is that leadership, at its essence, is a way of approaching life. This workshop frames leadership as a vehicle for personal and organizational transformation in such a way that redefines both leadership and the purposes of business. It looks at the inner work and outer work of leaders, the work of personal development and of developing healthy relationships, teams, and organizations.

Using the ancient paradigm of a medicine wheel, Clint Sidle explores the five archetypes that constitute a whole and balanced notion of leadership that is especially appropriate for modern organizations: the Teacher, the Nurturer, the Visionary, the Warrior and the Sage. Each of these represents a particular kind of intelligence: intellectual, emotional, intuitive, actionable, and spiritual. Dr. Sidle explores learning routines that build leadership capacity in each of these dimensions, and maps negative defensive routines that can result from over-emphasis on one to the exclusion of others.

Participants will assess their existing leadership strengths on the wheel, and will discover ways to increase their learning and awareness in other dimensions. The Leadership Wheel (published by Palgrave Macmillan, 2005) is a robust and flexible foundation for developing enhanced leadership capacity, and is a fresh approach to leadership as a way of life as well as personal and professional fulfillment.
